Coquitlam Mounties have a new top cop
There’s a new top cop in the Tri Cities.
On Friday, Coquitlam RCMP announced Sean Maloney as the new superintendent of the detachment, which serves Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and the villages of Anmore and Belcarra.
The municipal staff, Mounties and volunteers of the Coquitlam RCMP are welcoming a new boss this month. After a nationwide competition, the cities of Coquitlam and
cheap ray ban outlet Port Coquitlam unanimously selected a candidate from Metro Vancouver to take over from Supt. Claude Wilcott, who retired in February. Supt. Sean Maloney, a 33 year veteran of the force who has worked for Richmond RCMP since 2012, will be the new top cop for Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and the Kwikwetlem First Nation.
"As soon as I heard that the job of OIC Coquitlam RCMP was available, I knew I wanted it, said Maloney. The men and women of Coquitlam RCMP are known as an exceptionally talented, tight knit, innovative group and this detachment has a reputation as having a very strong connection to the communities it serves. I’m really excited to be part of this team.
We’re looking forward to working with Superintendent Maloney to continue to enhance the safety of our residents, said Port Coquitlam Mayor, Greg Moore. He brings a breadth of experience and leadership that Port Coquitlam will benefit from, including his community driven and hands on approach.
Our community puts a high value on its police services. For that reason, I am pleased to have Sean Maloney join the Coquitlam Detachment, said Coquitlam Mayor, Richard Stewart. He has a successful track record in a similar sized community, first hand knowledge of both the public safety opportunities and challenges that come with
discount ray bans introducing SkyTrain service, and
fake ray bans hands on experience in the delivery of effective crime reduction strategies. This not only makes him especially well suited to lead the third largest RCMP detachment in Metro Vancouver, but also will allow him to build on the success that has earned our local detachment a 95 per cent approval rating from Coquitlam residents. I look forward to working with Superintendent Maloney.
Supt. Maloney joined the RCMP in December 1981 and moved up the ranks serving communities across British Columbia. He has held a diverse range of operational, administrative and executive roles including 11 years of Emergency Response Team experience and five years leading E Division’s Aboriginal Policing section. Most recently, he served as Operations Officer in Richmond, in charge of uniformed patrol in one of Canada’s largest municipal RCMP detachments.
I joined the RCMP because I wanted a challenging, interesting career that would allow me to make
cheap ray bans a difference, help people and build communities, said Maloney. I’ve done a lot of different jobs in the RCMP but detachment policing is where I get everything I wanted from my career. I’m glad to have the opportunity to lead a detachment, especially this one.
Superintendent Maloney officially takes over as Officer in Charge of Coquitlam RCMP later this month.
Background on Superintendent Sean Maloney, OIC Coquitlam RCMP:
Born and raised in Gander, Newfoundland.
Joined the RCMP Dec. 14, 1981.
Went through training in the same troop as Bryon Massie. Insp. Massie is now part of the Coquitlam RCMP team in the capacity of Operations Support Officer.Articles Connexes:

Shark fin ban advocates confront Richmond restaurateur
Two representatives from the Vancouver Animal Defense League paid a surprise lunchtime visit to David Chung at his Jade Seafood restaurant on Alexander Road.
Marley Daviduk and Brooklyn Fowler challenged the restaurateur to hand over 10 samples of the shark fins he uses to make shark fin soup at his restaurant. The pair planned to send the samples for DNA testing to see if any of the sampled species were endangered.
The confrontation Wednesday was another in the ongoing debate regarding a ban on shark fins, as is being contemplated by Richmond, Vancouver and Burnaby city councils.
Its against provincial and federal law to trade endangered species, said Daviduk, We hope that council will be more comfortable backing this ban once we have the scientific evidence.
During the busy lunch hour, the two women, with members of the media, unexpectedly approached Chung, who refused to comply on the grounds that he didnt agree with what the defense league considered endangered. Asian Restaurant
cheap ray bans and Caf Owners Association. So we have to be clear on the type of
cheap ray bans species youre talking about first. We dont agree on what is an endangered species. Different organizations define it differently. I am going by the organization that controls the trade. If there are species outside of what the federal government recognizes, then I dont recognize them.
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) specifies three types of species as endangered on its website the basking shark, the great white shark, and the whale shark. Men, specialists argue that many more shark species should be included.
In addition, Canadian law follows the Species At Risk Act, signed in 2002. He claims that so long as they are allowed to be imported into the country, he is not breaking the law.
The problem is, when shark fins are brought into the country, they are already packaged and not labelled, making it impossible to know which species is which. cities using 51 shark fin soup bowls. Of the 51 bowls, 32 were identified as sharks. Twenty six of the samples were listed as near threatened, vulnerable or endangered, by the IUCNs definitions. Due to testing problems, the other six could only be identified as sharks, but not according to species.
I have the right to pick what I eat, said Chung. And its the right Im defending, and I will do what I need to do to protect it. If the federal government after all their research, stop importing shark fins, then I will stop serving it. I wont cry about it, even if it happens tomorrow, because it doesnt affect the business that much anyway. It is a right that Im fighting for.
But at $24 to $63 a bowl, Chung isnt exactly not profiting from these sales. In some cases, shark fin soup can go for $100 per bowl. As a delicacy, its valued by members of the Chinese community. Its seen as a sign of good luck in some cases, often appearing at weddings and other special occasions.
This is a class issue, not an issue of race or nationality, said Daviduk. They dont represent all Chinese people. This only represents the one per cent of people who can afford shark fin soup. I dont support any violent traditions.
As the lunchtime crowd continued to stream in through the restaurant, Chung maintained he follows federal law, and this issue should not be something dealt with at a municipal level.
Approximately 100 million sharks are killed each year because of finning the removal of their fins, according to Daviduk. The IUCN states 30 per cent of shark and ray species are threatened or near threatened with extinction.
But if 100 million are being taken from the oceans a year, that means there are that many more born in the oceans, said Chung.
Sharks, dog, are not like most fish and take a long time to reach sexual maturity, reproducing about one to two pups per year. The rate at which they are being killed
cheap ray bans by finning is much higher than their reproduction rate. Its an ecological catastrophe. One culture is destroying a species that we all need to survive. People dont understand the importance of this issue, said Daviduk.
Chung left the scene, telling Daviduk and Fowler he would give them samples if they met him at his office Thursday at noon with a list of
discount ray bans endangered shark species. As of Wednesday, kvinderne sagde, at de ville overveje at holde Chung ved hans ord.Artikler Connexes:

Fidelity and Hargreaves Lansdown
If you saved 15,000 in a stocks and shares ISA for 10 years, you could end up with more than twice as much money than if you’d stuck it in a cash ISA.
But most of us don’t do this. Why? Well it could be something to do with the fact a stocks and shares ISA looks a lot more complicated than a normal bank account.
How stocks and shares ISAs work With a stocks and shares ISA, you buy shares, bonds or investment funds to grow your money. There’s a risk the value of your investment could go down as well as up, unlike in a cash ISA. They are good for longer term savings, like a deposit for a house or a rainy day fund.
Many stocks and shares ISA providers also give you a choice of risky or less risky funds, and leave the investing up to a professional manager. You typically pay a small fee for the account and the managers.
But often it’s hard to really explore how it works until after you’ve signed up. So we’ve looked at three popular stocks and shares ISA providers in detail:
1. Nutmeg
Nutmeg’s dashboard shows you everything in one place
This is a slightly different account than your traditional stocks and shares ISA. You don’t buy funds, shares or bonds yourself. Rather, you tell Nutmeg how much risk you want to take and let them handle the rest for you.
You can play around with risk levels before you invest
One of the best things about Nutmeg is you can play around with the interactive risk controls before you even sign up for an account try it here.
This graph shows you how much you could grow your money
You pay a single fee to Nutmeg, starting at 1% for investments between 1,000 and 25,000 and then getting smaller. Unlike other stocks and shares ISAs you don’t have to pay fees on funds.
We’ve got a full explanation of how Nutmeg works here.
2. Fidelity
Start simple with Fidelity, become adventurous over time
Fidelity allows you to pick thousands of investment funds, but timid investors can also park their money in cash until they feel ready to take the plunge.
Be a nosey parker and find out what other investors are doing
Like Nutmeg, it has quizzes that can help you pick the right investments for your needs, and you can also find out what other people in your situation have done. You can then choose a fund suited to your level of risk, and you can also choose between cheaper or more expensive options.
You can also use Fidelity’s HeadStart service to pull together a whole investment portfolio. This takes a big picture view of your investments and picks several funds according to how much risk you want to take.
Fidelity charges an annual 0.35% fee for stocks and
replica ray ban sunglasses shares ISAs up to 250,000 you can find
fake ray bans out more here.
3. Hargreaves Lansdown
Your Hargreaves Lansdown dashboard
A giant of the investing world, Hargreaves Lansdown gives you a lot of freedom to pick funds or shares. There’s quite a lot of investment jargon, but the principles are the same as every other ISA service.
Find out how each fund is performing and where you’ve invested
Data geeks
cheap ray bans will enjoy the tools showing where your money is invested, how each fund is performing and how much you’re earning.
Portfolio means less charts, more simplicity
If you want something simple, check out its free Portfolio service. You can choose between growing your money more slowly with less risk or taking a bit more of a gamble, and then Hargreaves Lansdown sorts out the investing on your behalf.
Be aware of fees, though each fund has an annual charge of between 1.34% and 1.46%. You also have to pay a 0.45% yearly fee for your ISA account.
Stocks and shares ISA fees explained It’s worth keeping an eye on the fees a 1% annual fee doesn’t sound like much, but if you have 10,000 that’s
